contemporary conceptual artist and he was most known for his protest art. Ferrari's art was focused on religion, and he often created very controversial pieces involving Christ, the Virgin Mary, or other icons in the Catholic religion. Leon Ferrari's artwork consisted of Jesus being found in the most remote places like frying pans, cages and meat grinders. Ferrari's most known work was created in 1965, and in English it transfers to 'Western Christian Civilization' which depicted Christ crucified on a fighter plane- which was a protest of the Vietnam War. Leon Ferrari was so controversial with his work and ideologies, he was in fact exiled in Brazil due to threats he received from military dictatorship because of his extreme left leaning political views.
